Your Growing Baby

Music by Jordan Klassen

During pregnancy, a woman's body goes through many changes, some positive and some uncomfortable, but they are completely normal. Some common symptoms of early pregnancy include a missed period, nausea, breast tenderness, frequent urination, tiredness, and mood swings. It is important to note that these are the typical symptoms of early pregnancy. For most, around the beginning of the second trimester, women often report that they have lots of energy, are feeling creative and happy, and their skin and hair are healthier.

Aside from the changes in a woman's body during pregnancy, the fetus that she is carrying is constantly growing. It is important that a woman knows where she is at in her pregnancy. On the "Fetal Development" page there is some information about the development of the fetus, information that would be important to know before she makes a decision about her pregnancy. There are also Pregnancy Resource Centres in most communities that can provide valuable information and a free pregnancy test to verify the pregnancy and determine how far along it is. See the "Support and Services" page to find a Centre in your area.

How a woman feels about her unplanned pregnancy will depend on her particular circumstances. Though every circumstance of an unplanned pregnancy is different there is one thing that unites them all: Women have a right to accurate, up-to-date information about their pregnancy and their health with compassionate support and understanding.
