Workshops We Offer
Empowering Life Series Workshops

The Empowering Life Series offers a wide range of presentations spanning the spectrum of life issues. All presentations are designed to be respectively age-appropriate and are meant to engage the listener in meaningful discussions about real-life issues.
Our presentations are approximately one hour in length and encompass opportunity for Q&A. Should you require more or less time for the presentation, please let us know in advance.
Depression & Suicide
Suicide is an increasingly serious problem, affecting people of all ages and demographics. In fact, suicides and attempted suicides have increased 300% over the last 30 years. Depression has also become very common these days and, although not everyone who is depressed is suicidal, most suicidal people struggle with depression. This workshop offers compassionate tools to prepare the listener to recognize and support loved ones who are struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts, even if it's themselves. The presenter teaches from her own life experiences, offering hope and real answers to help a person struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts. The presentation builds toward the focus of value and relevance for each individual life.
Love & Abuse
For some, the line between love and abuse an become blurry. This presentation discusses the foundation of love and explains the importance of establishing and maintaining healthy relationships. The outcomes include a discussion regarding behaviours, attitudes and motivations in relationships. We look at what abuse looks like and what to do if a person is, or knows someone who is, in an abusive situation. As well, we discuss the different forms of expressing and receiving healthy love and how this knowledge can equip us for healthy relationships.
Intrinsic Value - Jason's Story
When a person struggles with their sense of value, it can affect their life in permanent and tragic ways. This presentation shares the story of Jason, a man who lost his way and ended up becoming a hardened criminal. It's clear throughout his story that he didn't know where he belonged and that if he'd known his value, his life could have been dramatically different. The twist in the story that helped Jason to discover his inherent value, changing his life forever, draws listeners into the same moment of discovery for themselves. The goal is to awaken the listener's sense of intrinsic value and give them the tools to make choices that reflect that value.
Free to Love
Humans have an innate desire to bond and connect - healthy relationships include healthy physical affection. This workshop is designed to discuss how this affection will vary depending on the appropriateness of the situation and to discuss possible consequences of sexual activity that is engaged in outside of its appropriate situation. The discussion of STI's and teen pregnancy is carefully and compassionately framed around the idea that we need a plan, specifically a plan that reflects our inherent worth and value.
